MONROVIA – Bill Jallah, the man accused of fatally stabbing Princess Zuo, appeared before Criminal Court “B” at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, as proceedings continue in his murder trial. Presiding Judge His Honor Wesseh Alphonsus Wesseh addressed key legal motions, including the status of a plea bargaining petition submitted by Jallah’s defense team.
The court emphasized that the plea bargaining petition in this matter is currently under review. The petition was duly filed and is being considered in accordance with the appropriate legal procedures.
Jallah’s legal representatives, from the Central Law Offices, had submitted the plea bargaining proposal covering six counts, arguing that their client had accepted responsibility for the January 2025 death of Princess Zuo at a local entertainment venue on Duport Road, Paynesville. The indictment alleges that Jallah stabbed Princess Zuo seven times, resulting in her death, and also injured several other individuals, including his sister, who attempted to intervene.
During the court session, Jallah’s lawyer, Cllr. Jimmy Bobo, requested that the plea bargain agreement be considered to secure a reduced sentence for his client. The prosecution, led by Cllr. Isaac William, acknowledged receipt of the document and indicated that Jallah must be formally arraigned to confirm his intention to enter a plea agreement. Judge Wesseh clarified the procedures for such filings, allowing the trial to move forward.
The proceedings were emotionally charged. Jallah reportedly expressed deep remorse for his actions, breaking down in court when Princess Zuo’s mother identified him to her grandson, stating, “This is the man who killed your mother.” Jallah admitted his guilt, saying, “He’s guilty of killing Princess Zuo Wesseh.” Princess Zuo’s family, including her grandchildren and grandmother, attended the hearing, visibly distressed.
The case, which will proceed without a jury after Jallah’s defense team waived their right to a jury trial, recalls the tragic events of Sunday, December 22, 2024. On that evening, Princess Zuo, described by friends and family as courageous and compassionate, was attacked by her former boyfriend during a social gathering. Eyewitnesses recounted that the evening had begun normally, but a confrontation erupted after Princess rejected Jallah’s attempt to rekindle their past relationship. In a violent outburst, Jallah first stabbed his sister in the arm and then attacked Princess, inflicting fatal injuries. Despite immediate aid from bystanders, Princess succumbed to her wounds shortly after the assault.
The murder has left her family, friends, and the wider community in deep mourning. Under Liberian law, murder carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment or death by hanging. The trial was adjourned and is scheduled to resume on Friday, August 28, 2025, when the prosecution is expected to begin presenting its evidence.
