MONROVIA – Prominent Liberian political commentator and journalist Henry Pedro Costa has strongly praised President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for what he described as a courageous step in tackling the country’s growing drug problem.
Writing on his official Facebook page on Thursday, August 28, 2025, Costa commended the President’s decision to dismiss top officials of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), calling it a decisive move to restore integrity and accountability.
“HUGE KUDOS to His Excellency President Joseph N. Boakai for taking bold action against the drug scourge in Liberia!” Costa posted. “Firing top officials of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) sends a strong message that corruption and complacency will NOT be tolerated! I strongly believe in your vision and capable leadership, Mr. President! Your commitment to a safer, healthier Liberia is truly inspiring! Thank you for your courage and dedication to this noble cause!”
The President’s decision led to the immediate dismissal of Director General Anthony K. Souh, Deputy Director General for Administration Gwee K. Porkpah, and Deputy Director General for Operations Sebastian Farr. An interim management team has been appointed to steer the affairs of the LDEA until a permanent leadership structure is put in place.
The interim team is headed by DCP Fitzgerald T. M. Biago of the Liberia National Police, who will serve as Officer-in-Charge. He is joined by Ernest T. Tarpeh of the National Security Agency as Deputy for Administration/Investigation and ACP Patrick B. Kormazu of the LNP as Deputy for Operations. The team will report to the Minister of Justice, who is expected to keep President Boakai updated on the LDEA’s operations and performance.
Costa concluded his statement with hashtags reinforcing his message of support: #LiberiaDeservesBetter #FightAgainstDrugs #LeadershipMatters #DonPedro.
