COSTA REFUTES CLAIMS OF RIFT WITH PRESIDENT BOAKAI OVER DELETED FACEBOOK POSTS

MONROVIA – Talk show host and political commentator Henry P. Costa on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, dismissed rumors surrounding his decision to delete Facebook posts in which he had commended President Joseph Nyuma Boakai on several government-related issues.

Speculation had circulated on social media suggesting that Costa removed the posts because he was not appointed by President Boakai to serve as Minister of State for Presidential Affairs. The claims fueled public debate, with some users interpreting the deletions as a sign of discontent with the President.

Costa, however, swiftly rejected the assertions in a fresh Facebook post, describing the move as a routine “housekeeping” exercise to organize his page, rather than a political statement.

“Fellow Liberians, I’m amazed and somewhat amused by the frenzy surrounding my removal of old Facebook posts from my page,” Costa wrote. “Let me set the record straight: I’ve been doing this for years due to the sheer volume of posts I make. It’s a simple housekeeping task to keep my page organized! I had no idea that removing old posts could be newsworthy, spark talk shows, and cause a panic in the country. Interesting indeed!”

He further emphasized that his relationship with President Boakai remains intact. “To all those trying to find a crisis where there isn’t one, I say: please stop! My relationship with my dear Uncle, the President, remains as strong as ever. We chatted on WhatsApp just last Wednesday,” Costa stated.

Highlighting a shift in his personal focus, Costa noted that he is currently concentrating on his gold mining business and enjoying time in Liberia. “The old Henry Pedro Costa is gone, and the new Costa is far more mature, strategic, and focused. Know this: no one – not a soul – can cause my uncle and me to fall apart again,” he concluded.

Costa, who is a member of the opposition All Liberian Party (ALP), supported former President George Weah and the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) during the 2023 presidential election. His latest clarification appears aimed at quelling speculation of a potential rift between him and President Boakai, while signaling a new direction in his personal and professional life.
