MONROVIA – The ruling Unity Party (UP) has officially announced December 6, 2025, as the date for its long-awaited Homecoming and Fundraising Program, which is expected to bring together partisans, supporters, and allies under the theme: “Positioning the Unity Party for Long Term Political Vibrancy, Policy Reform, Infrastructural Development, and Membership Drive.”
The announcement was made through a press release issued on Sunday, October 19, 2025. The event is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the party’s structures across the country, mobilize financial resources, and deepen its political relevance ahead of future electoral contests.
President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, the Standard Bearer of the Unity Party, welcomed the initiative and urged partisans to view the event as a renewed call to action. “This is not just another gathering,” President Boakai said. “It is a moment of reflection, renewal, and recommitment to the values that have kept our party strong over the years. Together, we must build the Unity Party into a vibrant institution that can respond to the needs of our people for generations to come.”
A National Steering Committee has been constituted to plan and coordinate activities leading up to the December 6 event. Senator Dabah M. Varpilah, the First Vice Chairperson of the party, has been appointed as Chairperson of the committee. She will work alongside Jeror Cole Bangalu as Cochair and other senior partisans, including Mohammed Kromah, Prince K. Moye, Amin Modad, Magdalene E. Dagoseh, Neto Z. Lighe, and Cornelia Kruah, among others.
The Fundraising Committee, chaired by Partisan Cornelia Kruah, has been tasked with designing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy. This initiative aims to secure resources for the acquisition of a national headquarters and county offices across Liberia. Partisan Edmund Ford will serve as Cochair, with several prominent partisans serving as members and advisors.
In addition to the national fundraising strategy, county-level committees have been set up to lead mobilization in their respective regions. Senior lawmakers and local leaders will chair the committees in counties such as Nimba, Bong, Lofa, Grand Bassa, Margibi, Montserrado, Bomi, Grand Cape Mount, Gbarpolu, Maryland, Grand Kru, Grand Gedeh, River Gee, River Cess, and Sinoe.
The Media and Publicity Committee, chaired by Partisan Mo Ali, will spearhead the public communications strategy. The committee is responsible for shaping the narrative around the event, issuing press releases, organizing press conferences, and coordinating media engagements.
Meanwhile, the Mobilization and Recruitment of New Members Committee, chaired by Partisan Whroway Bryant, will focus on expanding the party’s grassroots base and re-engaging inactive members. The committee will use the upcoming program as an opportunity to increase volunteer participation and strengthen local chapters across the country.
President Boakai emphasized that the Unity Party’s future depends on the collective efforts of its members and supporters. “The work of building a stronger Unity Party cannot be left to a few individuals,” he said. “It requires the commitment of every partisan, every supporter, and every friend of the party. December 6 is a rallying point for all of us.”
The Homecoming and Fundraising Program is expected to attract national and international attention, drawing dignitaries, former officials, and a broad spectrum of Liberians who have supported the party over the years. Organizers say the event will serve as a critical platform to consolidate the party’s structures, energize its base, and lay the foundation for long-term political sustainability.
