MONROVIA – The ruling Unity Party (UP) has reinstated seven members of its National Executive Committee (NEC) following the completion of a one-month suspension and the payment of a financial penalty imposed for internal disciplinary reasons.
According to a press release issued on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, and signed by Lansana Pawenneh Fofana, the party’s National Assistant Secretary General for Press, Publicity & Outreach, the reinstatement follows a review confirming the members’ compliance with all terms of their suspension.
The disciplinary action, announced on September 14, 2025, affected 28 NEC members and was described by the party as a necessary measure to reinforce the principles of discipline, accountability, and collective responsibility within its ranks. Each suspended member was required to serve a one-month suspension and pay a fine of US$1,000.
The statement emphasized that the decision to reinstate the seven executives demonstrates the party’s commitment to applying its internal regulations without favoritism, ensuring that all partisans from grassroots supporters to senior officials are held to the same standards of conduct and responsibility.
Those reinstated include Partisan Neto Z. Lighe, Sr.; Partisan Nya D. Twayen, Jr.; Partisan Magdalene Dargoseh; Partisan Louise M. Kpoto; Partisan Gbeme Horace-Kollie; Partisan Jerolinmek Matthew Piah; and Partisan Alexander Nuetah.
“The Unity Party welcomes our colleagues back to their roles and looks forward to their renewed dedication to advancing the party’s agenda,” the release stated, reaffirming the party’s continued focus on promoting justice, equity, and good governance in Liberia.
