LIBERIA: AMOS WILLIAMS TAKES OVER AS INTERIM PRESIDENT OF FLY, SETS UP COMMITTEE FOR YOUTH ELECTIONS

MONROVIA – Newly appointed Interim President of the Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY), Amos Williams, has expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Youth and Sports for entrusting him with the responsibility to lead the organization through a crucial transitional period.

In a statement issued on Sunday, October 26, 2025, Williams called for unity among youth and student leaders, county coordinators, former youth executives, and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth, transparent, and inclusive leadership transition.

“I am deeply honored to be appointed as the Interim Head of the Federation of Liberian Youth and sincerely thank the Ministry for entrusting me with this responsibility,” Williams said. He urged outgoing officials to cooperate with the interim leadership and refrain from any actions that could hinder the transition process, emphasizing that the goal is to reflect the aspirations and development priorities of young people across Liberia.

To facilitate a transparent process, Williams announced the formation of a Technical Working Committee to oversee both the interim administration and the upcoming FLY elections. The committee will be led by Mr. Blama Goll as Chairman, with Mr. Flomo Mau Maiwo serving as Lead Technical Adviser. Other members include Mr. Hillary Quito, Ms. Fatumata P. Dolleh, and Mr. James Zogar. Williams will directly supervise the committee’s activities, while subcommittees such as the Election Commission will be announced subsequently.

He also called on county coordinators to begin preparations at the local level, particularly in regularizing membership and ensuring the active participation of youth organizations in the forthcoming national elections.

“The steering committee will soon develop a detailed roadmap and work plan, including membership regulations and election guidelines,” Williams stated. “These documents will guide the transition process and ensure that all counties execute membership and election-related activities simultaneously.”

Williams reaffirmed FLY’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and inclusion as guiding principles of his interim leadership. He concluded by pledging that the upcoming elections would be free, fair, and credible, allowing young Liberians to democratically choose their next leaders.

“God bless the young people of Liberia and bless our state,” he added.
