MONROVIA – The Liberia National Police (LNP) has intensified its crackdown on criminal activity nationwide, announcing a series of arrests, charges, and ongoing investigations spanning financial crimes, violent assaults, kidnappings, and traffic-related incidents. The update was provided Friday, December 26, 2025, by Deputy Commissioner of Police Cecelia G. Clarke on ELBC Radio 99.9 FM.
In a major financial crime case, the LNP has charged the management of Wely Money Remittances Liberia Limited, including CEO Alpha Mamadou Diallo, Vice Chairman Mamadou Oury Diallo, and Secretary Osman Barry. They face allegations of money laundering, terrorist financing totaling USD $537,130.74, and tax evasion of USD $234,000. Investigators claim the company concealed the true origin and nature of USD $8.5 million credited and distributed through its accounts.
Traffic safety incidents continue to plague Montserrado County. Chinese national Young Quon is under investigation after losing control of his vehicle on 18th Street, Tubman Boulevard, injuring six people who were admitted to JFK Medical Centre. Similarly, driver Solomon J. Martin is being probed for striking and killing 13-year-old Florence Johnson at Barclay Farm Junction.
Violent crime in rural counties remains a major concern. In Gbarpolu County, police launched a manhunt for Augustine, accused of kidnapping and sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl between December 11–13. Margibi County authorities arrested 20-year-old Alvin Gbarnyah for kidnapping and assaulting a two-year-old child, claiming the child resembled his own son.
Property crimes have also drawn police action. In Montserrado County, suspects Gabriel Deajay and Junior Kollis have been charged with burglary and criminal conspiracy for stealing USD $28,000 and seven Android phones from a residence in Johnsonville.
In Lofa County, the police sent suspect Kullie Morris Massayan to court for murder following the fatal attack of Thomas Kpakolo with a cutlass in Lawalazu Town, Voinjama District #4. Meanwhile, Grand Bassa County authorities continue investigating a case of mob violence where a truck driver was pursued and his vehicle set ablaze after hitting a motorcyclist in New Buchanan.
Aggravated assault and negligence incidents have also been recorded. Malian national Baky Kelle was arrested in Grand Gedeh County after allowing a cow to rampage in Niao Community, injuring two residents admitted at Zwedru Health Centre.
Armed robbery remains a pressing challenge in Margibi County, where 25-year-old James Kromah was arrested for stealing a TVS Star motorbike from George Thomas in Needowin, RIA Highway. He is currently detained pending court proceedings.
The LNP also continues to pursue suspects involved in civil unrest. Thirteen individuals implicated in the violent “Lead or Leave” protest on December 17 in Monrovia have been charged with Riot, Disorderly Conduct, and Obstructing Highway. Additionally, Prince Flomo remains wanted in connection with the murder of Elijah Kpola in Boye Village, Todee District, on November 28, 2025.
The Liberia National Police urged all road users to practice traffic safety, including wearing seatbelts, obeying speed limits, avoiding phone use while driving, using pedestrian crossings, and never drinking and driving. DCP Cecelia G. Clarke concluded the report by reminding Liberians that continued vigilance and collaboration are key to keeping “Mama Liberia” safe.
