LAND CLAIMS AND RECLAMATION ISSUES ARE A RECIPE FOR CHAOS, REV. MONGER CALLS FOR REVIEW OF LAND LAW

By Pius Tweh

A Liberian Clagymen, author and general overseer of Ministry of Truth Incorporated Judah Assembly,  Rev John D. Monger, is appealing to the the branches of the Liberian government and the Liberia Land Authority to revisit the land if families and community dwellers must live in peace and harmony

In an interview with journalists Monday in Po River, Rev Monger emphasized that he foresee  something springing up, if not checked properly , it could divide the citizens more

According to him, the claiming and reclaiming of land, saying no one has the authority to question the authority of the court but I am equally sure that the laws are not meant to harm people, it is there to protect people.

He disclosed that this new wave of claiming land needs careful attention, I am repeating myself, this new wave of claiming and reclaiming land needs attention.

“We have had enough, we cannot go back to the past.  Fifty years of settlement, forty years of settlement, thirty five years of settlement and all of sudden , one person comes with an eviction notice to displace hundreds of people, please look at this”

According to him, he is not saying that the court action is wrong, I am not saying those who occupied other people’s land illegally are right,

“I am saying, let us look at it. The people will always the people”

He said no nation can become prosperous where the law is ignored. The rule of law is the foundation upon which peace, democracy, and development are built.

The Constitution must remain supreme. Courts must administer justice impartially. Public officials must be accountable. Citizens must obey lawful authority while exercising their rights responsibly.

The Liberia we desire cannot be built by government alone. It requires political leaders who lead with humility, religious leaders who preach peace, educators who shape responsible citizens, parents who teach moral values, young people who reject violence, and every citizen who chooses dialogue over conflict.

Our children are watching us.

They will inherit either the unity we build or the divisions we preserve. Let us leave them a nation where disagreements are settled by reason rather than violence, where elections strengthen democracy rather than threaten peace, and where every Liberian feels equally valued regardless of tribe, religion, county, or political affiliation.

As we celebrate our independence, let us renew our covenant with Liberia. Let us forgive where forgiveness is needed. Let us reconcile where relationships have been broken. Let us reject hatred and embrace national unity. Let us strengthen our democracy through respect for the rule of law. Let us become patriots whose first loyalty is to the Republic of Liberia.

Our independence gave us political freedom.

When check points were erected and people were been asked to speak their dialects before crossing, it became another nightmare. Churches  building were invaded and innocent lives were destroyed, the fight for peace and justice degenerated into something different. Brothers hunted brothers, sisters hunted sisters, people were blaming God because they were part of a particular ethnic group, the center could no longer hold and things fell apart.

Those of us that survived, survived at the mercy of God, we were giving  another chance to make our country better.

Today, Liberia enjoys peace, and for that we give thanks to the  Almighty God. Democratic elections have taken place, governments have changed peacefully, and our children are growing up without hearing the daily sounds of gunfire. These are achievements we must never take for granted.

Yet we must ask ourselves an honest question: Have we truly reconciled?

Reconciliation is more than laying down weapons. It is more than signing peace agreements. Genuine reconciliation means healing wounded hearts, rebuilding broken trust, and learning to see one another as brothers and sisters rather than enemies.
