DID JESÚS KILLED JESÚS IN TRAGIC FOOTBALL MATCH?

Spanish football is in mourning after Tenerife striker Jesús de Miguel died following a devastating collision with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono.

The tragic death of 30-year-old CD Tenerife striker Jesús de Miguel has sent shockwaves through the football world and plunged Spanish football into mourning.

What began as a routine match ended in unimaginable tragedy, leaving players, supporters, and football officials struggling to process the devastating loss.

The heartbreaking incident took place on Monday, November 2, 2026, during a Spanish second-division match between CD Tenerife and FC Andorra at Heliodoro Rodríguez López Stadium.

With the score level at 2-2, the contest remained tense as it entered stoppage time.

Then came the moment that changed everything. De Miguel sprinted after a long ball as FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono charged out of his goal to contest possession.

In a horrifying collision, Owono’s raised knee struck the Tenerife forward in the chest, sending him tumbling to the ground.

The striker collapsed immediately and lay motionless. Players from both teams rushed to his side, urgently calling for medical help as the stadium’s excitement gave way to sheer panic.

Medical staff fought to save his life, performing emergency resuscitation after he suffered cardiac arrest.

His pulse was reportedly restored, and he was taken to hospital, where he was admitted to intensive care.

But efforts to save the young footballer’s life would end in heartbreak.

On Tuesday morning, November 3, CD Tenerife announced that Jesús de Miguel had died. The announcement sent shockwaves through Spanish football, prompting an outpouring of tributes from clubs, players, and football figures.

The referee sent Owono off after the collision, ruling that he had challenged with a high leg and excessive force.

The match was later abandoned, with the score remaining 2–2.

Meanwhile, Spanish police began judicial proceedings to investigate the circumstances of the striker’s death and whether it could constitute involuntary manslaughter.

The investigation does not, however, mean that the goalkeeper has been found criminally responsible.

Reports suggest the collision took place as both players contested the ball, and no evidence has been established that Owono intended to injure his opponent.

The tragedy has also prompted difficult questions about player safety, the risks of high-speed challenges, and goalkeepers’ responsibilities when rushing out to intercept opponents.

For Tenerife supporters, the final score no longer matters. For his teammates, that terrible moment will be hard to forget. And for the family of Jesús de Miguel, football has taken something far more precious than a player. It has taken a son, a loved one, and a life that can never be replaced.

May he rest in peace.
