MONROVIA – On Friday, June 12, 2026, students from various academic departments at Amos C. Sawyer College came together for a joyful celebration on the UL Fendall campus. Taking a break from their demanding classes and busy schedules, they embraced a full day of camaraderie and enjoyment.
The Dean of the College, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Josephus M. Gray, led a lively dance that was joined by a group of students in celebration of the kickball team’s victory. The Dean also presented the male team champion trophy and officially kicked off the football match between old and new students.
The day featured a variety of social and entertaining activities, including football, kickball, basketball, chess, checkers, scrabble, dance, and music.
These events fostered a sense of community and togetherness among the student body, particularly within the Sawyer College family. It was a truly remarkable experience, with students reveling in the joy of shared moments.
The non-academic activities were themed “One College! One Family! One Purpose!” and attracted an impressive turnout, ensuring that everyone enjoyed delightful refreshments. We extend special appreciation to UL President, Dr. Layli Maparyan, for guiding the institution toward a bright future.
Our gratitude also goes to Vice President for Student Affairs, Assistant Prof. Saydah Williamson Taylor, for her unwavering support, and to the dedicated Dean of Sawyer College, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Josephus M. Gray, for his commitment to fostering a student-centered environment. A heartfelt thank you to the leadership of the student body for their dedication to uniting students and organizing such a wonderful event.
We are also grateful to the faculty and staff of the College who attended and participated in this uplifting de-stress and “Meet and Greet” gathering.
Congratulations to everyone involved! The unity and togetherness displayed today truly deserve recognition and will be cherished in our history. Forward ever, backward never!
