NATIONAL PATRIOTIC PARTY OFFICIALS THREATEN BOYCOTT

Date:

LIBERIA – The National Patriotic Party (NPP) through its Secretary of county chairpersons threatened to boycott the upcoming February 4 nomination program of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change, unless the party is given proper recognition and respect within the Coalition.

Making the disclosure over the weekend in a press release, Rev. D. Leonidas Jartah accused the CDC officials of marginalizing the NPP in the Coalition, alleging that funds and resources are only allocated to Congress for Democratic Change members, a situation he said has reduced the NPP to a mere spectator.

“The NPP has had enough of the 5 years of marginalization and is now calling on its national chairman, Senator James P. Biney, and Standard Bearer, Vice President Jowel Howard Taylor, to disengage from any further activities related to the nomination until the party is given the recognition and respect it deserves,” Rev. Jartah mandated.

The Secretary of county chairpersons further narrated in the press release that the NPP has warned that if the CDC continues on this path, the party may pull out of the Coalition and join another political alliance.

“The NPP is determined to ensure that their voice and role in the coalition is not diminished any further,” the NPP’s release noted.

This development raises questions about the future of the Coalition and the upcoming nomination program. The NPP’s demands for fair treatment may have significant consequences for a political marriage. Credit: William Lloyd
