MONROVIA – The leadership of Prof. Amos C. Sawyer College of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Liberia, on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, bestowed a distinguished honor on Prof. Sachin Sain, a visiting International Multidisciplinary Scholar and Manager of International Relations of Sharda University (SU) in New Delhi, India.
Prof. Saini was honored and named a Visiting Professor in the Amos C Sawyer College of Social Sciences and Humanities for his enormous contributions towards quality education, faculty development, students exchange, and career development at the University of Liberia. Prof. Saini is also credited for strengthening the existing ties between the University of Liberia and Sharda University in New Delhi, India.
The President of the University of Liberia, Prof. Dr. Julius Julukon Sarwolo Nelson has appointed Prof. Saini as UL’s Ambassador to India and extended thanks to his counterpart of Sharda University, Dr. Ashok Daryani and the entire Sharda University family for the unique ties existing between the two universities.
The Indian scholar is a target-oriented professional with a master’s degree. He is a dedicated International Student Recruitment Professional with a passion for demystifying higher education and helping motivated international students discover pathways to post-secondary studies.
Prof. Saini is also responsible for the development of appropriate partnerships, customer relationships, management with all agents and partners, responsible for admission procedures; & responsible for operational aspects of recruitment from the allocated territory, as well as positive, sociable, and enthusiastic with a desire to achieve and develop personally, and as part of a team.
The Sharda University has achieved the Highest Benchmark in Academic Excellence, with A+ Grade accreditation by NAAC (National Assessment & Accreditation Council).
Prof. Sachin Saini is in the country as a guest of the University of Liberia. Since his arrival in the country, Prof. Saini has held talks and interactions with major stakeholders of the University of Liberia including the President, Vice Presidents, Deans, Academic Directors, the University of Liberia Faculty Association (ULFA) President, the University of Liberia Staff Associate (ULSA) President, Chairpersons, faculty, staff, and students.
He made presentations about the administrative and academic programs of the Sharda Group of Companies, particularly Sharda University and Sharda Hospital in New Delhi, India.
He visited and held meetings with UL President, Prof. Dr. Julius Julukon Sarwolo Nelson, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Moses M. Zinnah, Vice President for Institutional Development and Investment, Prof. Weade Kobbah Boley, Vice President for Graduate Education and Executive Dean, Prof. Dr. Jonathan C. Taylor, ULFA President, Dr. Edina Johnny and ULSA President, Mr. Lawrence Seitua.
Others include the Academic Directors of UL Graduate Programs; the Dean and Chairpersons of Prof Amos C Sawyer College of Social Sciences and Humanities, Prof. Dr Josephus Moses Gray, the Dean and the Chairpersons of Faulkner College of Science and Technology, Assistant Professor Dr. Charles Asumana, Dean and the chairpersons of Engineering College, Assistant Professor H. Hun-bu Tulay, the Associate Dean and the Chairpersons of College of Education, Assistant Professor Dr. Young; Dean and the Chairpersons of Honor College, Assistant Professor Mrs. Mamawa Freeman Moore and the Administrator, Deans and Heads of College of Health Sciences.
Prof. Saini was accompanied on the visitations and meetings with stakeholders at UL by two distinguished Liberian authors, the Dean of the Prof. Amos C. Sawyer College of Social Sciences and Humanities, Prof. Dr. Josephus M. Gray, and the Chairperson of the Department of Political Sciences, Assistant Prof. Richmond S. Anderson.
The purpose of Prof Saini’s visit in the country is to strengthen the academic and administrative ties existing between the two higher institutions, the University of Liberia and Sharda University. The two universities on October 6, 2022, signed a major Memorandum of Understanding which stand to benefit cross sectors of faculty, staff and students of both institutions. UL President Prof Dr. Julius Julukon Sarwolo Nelson and Prof. Dr. Ashok Daryani signed on behalf of their institutions.
The University of Liberia’s fruitful academic ties with Sharda University, a distinguished institution of higher learning in India took another positive turn when the International Manager, Mr. Sachin Saini from the university arrived in Monrovia as a guest of the University of Liberia. The engagements by the two universities have continued to deepen ties between the two institutions of higher learning on academic and developmental levels. It was a precursor to the historic visit in October 2022 by the three-man high-powered delegation from the University to India to strengthen ties with Sharda University.

The University of Liberia and Sharda University in New Delhi, India on Thursday, October 6, 2022, signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a focus primarily on capacity building of both the faculty and students at the University of Liberia and based on mutual interests of educational benefits between the two sisterly universities.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by high corps of academics including Deans, Professors, Administers, and the Office of International Relations of Sharda University.
The MoU paves the way for Sharda University and the University of Liberia to expand their working relationships at academic and mutual levels for the benefit of the two universities.
Major areas of benefits of mutual benefits include the exchange of faculty and sabbaticals, exchange of Ph.D. scholars, provision of scholarships for postgraduate and undergraduate students, dual degree programs, credit transfer programs, short- and long-term customized courses, joint collaborative research projects, and publication of a joint peer-viewed research journal.
Sharda University is a multi-disciplinary university recognized by the Government of India and approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India. Sharda University offers internationally recognized Degrees and has memberships of the Association of India Universities (AIU) and the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), to provide the best research-based education to its students.
The University of Liberia was founded in 1862 as Liberia College and became a full University in 1951. It is a public institution funded mainly by the Government of Liberia. The University now has four campuses: Capitol Hill, Fendall, Medical School Fendall, and Starz-Sinji campus located in Sinji, Grand Cape Mount County.
Sharda University entered into educational collaborations with Middlesex University, London (UK), Northhumbia University (England), GMIT (Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, Galway), Centro De Investigacion Y De Estudios Avanzados Del Ipn (Cinvestav, Mexico), Hochschule Bremerhaven, University of Applied Sciences (Germany), Tertiary Education Commision Of Mauritius (Mauritius), Istanbul Aydin University, Istanbul (Turkey), Payap University (Thailand) and Aeromap Technology Systems (Kingdom of Bahrain).
The college, without doubt, is one of Africa’s oldest higher institutions of learning, and the second oldest higher institution of learning in West Africa, and first in the Republic of Liberia. It has been powered by continuous revolution and ongoing efforts to improve and provide quality education and to enhance students’ creative thinking and approaches towards contemporary situations through the application of quality education.

The College has not deviated from its established agenda of social responsibility to the Liberian Society and the world to provide educational access to the citizens and other nationals across the globe.
Since its establishment in 1862, the College has continued to confer BA and BSW degrees on its graduates every convocation period. Today, it remained attractive to students with an increment in student population.
The College leads in females’ enrollment and doctorate degree holders across the various colleges. Professional schools and graduate programs across the entire university. The college has a global reputation for outstanding academic achievement, research and quality teaching and serves as a diverse community where academic freedom is cherished.
For the current academic year, the College has 265 faculty members of which 228 (86%) represents males and 37(14%) recorded for females. Out of the total 265 faculty, 168 (63%) represents Part-time faculty while 97(37%) is recoded for Full-time faculty.
Regarding the age range, bulk of the faculty-Full-time and Part-time falls between 45-55 (70%) followed by age range 55-70 (20%) while the least age range is between 30-45(10%).
For the second semester of 2022-2023, the College offered 157 courses which represent 679 sections with 443 offered at the UL Fendall Campus and 184 on the Capitol Hill campus while 3 administer in Sinje, reprehensively. Out of the 679 sections, 630 (93%) were recorded as Face-to-Face learning while 49(7%) represents online teaching and learning.
