“PRIORITIZE WAR AND ECONOMIC CRIMES COURT” – LIBERIA FIRST MOVEMENT URGES GOL

Date:

MONROVIA – Liberia First Movement Servant In-Charge says the establishment of the War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia should be prioritized by the government of Liberia and its partners.

Presidential aspirant, Sheikh Al Moustapha Kouyateh said the government of Liberia should muster the courage to establish the War and Economic Crimes Court to bring to justice those who committed atrocities in the country during the country’s 14 years of unrest and those who embezzled the country’s resources.

“I am calling for the establishment of the War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia. We cannot let those who committed atrocities during the civil war go unpunished. We cannot allow those who have stolen our national resources to walk free. We must hold these individuals accountable for their actions, and the establishment of this court will help us to do just that, I am troubled with the delay,” Sheikh disclosed.

The former Montserrado county senatorial candidate asserted that if the court is established, it will serve as a deterrent to future leaders and those who commit crimes against the people; adding that it will help restore the dignity of the nation.

Honorable Kouyateh has been judged by the court of public opinions as one of the few presidential aspirants with a character that can be trusted with state power; noting that he has been assented as a corruption-free man.

The Businessman turned politician said: “We cannot stop the establishment of the court. We must continue to demand accountability and transparency from our leaders, and we must work together to build a better future for our nation. We must hold our leaders accountable for their actions, and we must work to build strong institutions that will serve the people, not the other way around,”

Liberia First Movement Political leader pointed out that these issues have resulted in the suffering of the people, the decay of reputable institutions, and the erosion of democracy.

Sheikh asserted that it has been a complete rise of corruption in every sector of society, from the highest levels of government to the lowliest bureaucrat, the abuse of power, the embezzlement of public funds, and the theft of our national resources.

According to him, the government of Liberia has failed to protect lives and properties, and provide adequate healthcare and education programs for the citizenry; and corruption, unemployment, lack of basic social justice, economic hardship, and injustice have become rampant in the society.

“I urge all Liberians to join me in supporting the Liberia First Movement, which is committed to promoting and providing credible leadership for our country, we need leaders who will prioritize the needs of the Liberian people and work tirelessly to improve our country’s future” he concluded.
