Date:

I am incredibly humbled and honored to be recognized and awarded with a prestigious honor by the Dean and the leadership of Sharda University School of Humanities and Social Sciences located in Knowledge Park, Greater Norda, New Delhi, Republic of India.

The prestigious award was presented to  Dr. Josephus M. Gray on  July 19, 2023, by Prof. Dr. Anviti Gupta, Dean, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Sharda University, Republic of India.

I’m convinced we’re on the right path and thank you for linking the University of Liberia and Sharda University to enter into MoU for concrete benefits”, Dr.  Gupta noted.

Speaking further, Dr.Gupta said: Your hard work,  perseverance and commitment to   UL-Sharda U ties pay off beyond expectation and disclosed that the award recognizes Dr. Gray’s extraordinary hard work and accomplishments as Dean of a  sisterly College in Liberia.

According to Dr. Gupta, the award is a testament to Dr.  Gray’s impact on UL-Sharda U ties and his leadership role at Amos C Sawyer College.

“We’re truly grateful for all that we have achieved together to expand the MoU and strengthen ties imbued with new landmark academic deals and concrete benefits.

The sealed deals include the exchange of faculty, staff and students, credit transfer programs, short-term teaching sabbaticals by faculty from the two colleges, the introduction of similar curricula and degree programs, semester credit transfer/study abroad at the Sharda College of Humanities and Social Sciences,  semester student exchange and joint bachelor and master courses, internships and joint research projects and the publication of a social science journal.

The awarding ceremony brought together the Chairpersons and Senior Professors including the heads of Departments of English, Literature, History, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, Geography, Sociology, and Yogic Sciences, respectively.

“I would not be more proud of the work we have done together as counterparts”.

Dr. Gray informed his Indian counterpart and the faculty about the University of Liberia’s commitment to enhancing the ties existing between UL and Sharda University, particularly the two colleges, in the face of the growing competitive academic environment.

Dr. Gray used the awarding ceremony to express his appreciation on behalf of the President of UL, Prof. Dr. Julius Julukon Sarwolo Nelson, and the academic team of Amos C. Sawyer College for the existing ties subsisting between the two institutions.

Dr. Gray informed the faculty of the college that Amos C. Sawyer College, particularly the University under the leadership of Dr. Nelson is committed to achieving the five objectives of Higher Education; Pedagogy, Extension, Application, Research, and Learning.

He pinpointed that the college is on a new course of academic trajectory.  At Sawyer College, students do not only get a chance to study at the institution but also the exposure to prove their capabilities through their work, Dr. Gray indicated.

Prof. Dr. Anviti Gupta is a Professor of Psychology; she earned her Ph.D. in Applied Psychology from the University of Lucknow.

She is a certified psychological counselor and trained clinical hypnotherapist who extends her expertise in areas relating to juvenile and adolescents problem like anxiety, drug and alcohol abuse and materialism.

Sharda School of Humanities and Social Sciences’ main focus is to nurture and develop cognitive and non-cognitive skills, aligned with the goals of education for sustainable development and global citizenship.

Social Sciences equip the student with a strong theoretical, analytical and empirical understanding of the subject matter and provide a very strong foundation that they believe will prepare the graduates from the college to become pragmatic professionals, competent decision and policymakers, while also being sensitive human beings.

Dr. Gupta believes that the recent visit of the UL delegation in India to visit Sharda University and Sharda Hospital will lead to an open-door approach, open to feedback and constructive criticism creating a ground for a sound learning experience.
