LISCR FC FORCE BO RANGERS TO 1-1 DRAW IN CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FIRST-LEG ENCOUNTER

Date:

BO CITY, SIERRA LEONE – Liberia’s champions, LISCR FC, today forced Sierra Leone giants Bo Rangers to a one-all draw, in both teams’ CAF 2023-24 Champions League preliminary round first-leg match at a rather sparsely populated Southern Arena stadium, located in the second largest Sierra Leonean city of Bo.

It was the home-side Bo Rangers that opened the scoring, as early as in the 3rd minute, when a beautifully taken corner kick was nodded into the visitor’s net by Mohammed Kaba.

Bo Ranger’s sensational midfielder, Kaba’s header completely beat a flatfooted goalkeeper Ashley Williams, who conceded the goal due to poor anticipation.

The Sierra Leone champions dominated the first half of the match, especially with dominance in midfield, often dispossessing their opponents, to the delight of the handful of home fans, who ceaselessly cheered their side.

LISCR FC defense was up to the task, with Benjamin Doe working overtime and playing a pivotal role, often time coming to the rescue of his side.

Santigie Koroma of LISCR FC picked up a yellow card midway in the first half after he fouled a Bo Ranger player close to the Liberians’ 18-yard box.

The Liberian side came alive a few minutes away from recess, as a beautiful combination led to a buildup for Sebastian Teclar’s cross from the right flank, which was tapped in by Christopher Jackson to level the score.

Both teams held onto a goal apiece until the end of the first half, and back from recess, they put up beautiful displays, but the game stood at 1-1 up to the end of full time.

Saturday’s away result puts LISCR FC in a better chance of advancing onto the next stage of the 2023-24 version of the African Champions League, as the Liberians host their Sierra Leonean counters on 27 August, at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex, in their return-leg fixture of the CAF Champions League preliminary round.
