JOINT SECURITY ARRESTS SIX PERSONS IN CONNECTION WITH VIOLENT PROTEST IN DISTRICT 11

Date:

MONROVIA – The Joint Security has arrested and is investigating six persons following a violent demonstration in District #11 yesterday, in Montserrado County.

According to the police press release, on August 31, 2023, at about 5-6 P.M., some residents believed to be supporters of Mr. Nimene Tweh, alias “Country Man,” stormed the streets and blocked the major highway leading to Dry Rice market, Bend and Stop, Town Hall and Dixville Junctions in District #11, on grounds that their candidate was disqualified by the Supreme Court from contesting the ensuing elections.

Those arrested are Emmanuel Pearce, 31, Isaac Gono, 20 and Ramsay Hills, 35. Others are: James Geedeh, 40, Sylvester King, 37 and Bill Anderson, 18.

Meanwhile, they are currently detained at the Police Zone 4 withholding cells.

The Joint Security warns members of the general public to desist from engaging in activities that will lead to undermining the peace of the State, especially during these elections.

The Joint Security will not hesitate to further arrest, investigate, and forward to Court those who will place themselves in conflict with the rule of law.
