COUNSELLOR GONGLOE URGES LIBERIANS TO LEAD EXEMPLARY LIVES

Date:

By Weah Karpeh

The standard-bearer of the Liberian People’s Party (LPP) Cllr. Tiawan Saye Gongloe has urged Liberians – young and old – to lead exemplary lives that would positively impact society.

Specifically, he said, the progressive continuity of Liberia depends heavily on the good, meaningful, and serviceable life its citizens must live that others can emulate. He stressed: “It is not how long we live. It is how we’ll live.”

Speaking briefly at the funeral of one of the pioneers of the United Liberia Inland Church Rev. Laurie McCoy in Ganta, Nimba County on Saturday, February 11, 2023, the LPP leader extolled Rev. McCoy who was also an educator, for his selfless and sacrificial work in impacting Christian values and educational discipline to some today’s leaders of Liberia.

He added that the educator had lived an exemplary life of fairness, truthfulness, honesty, integrity, and care in dealing with people including students and church lay leaders. “It is these virtues I encourage all of us who are citizens of Liberia to practice.”

Otherwise, Cllr. Gongloe lamented that some public servants of the Country are not as transparent as they should be in the service of the Country. Instead, he stated, they dwell in vanity which drives some of them to engage in killing other people in order to use their parts for “talisman” that would enable them to keep or ascend to public offices and steal with impunity. Following the funeral service, Cllr. Gongloe joined an elaborate reception primarily of opinion leaders of

Nimba County and the Judiciary Branch of Liberia in Ganta on Saturday. The reception was organized by Supreme Court of Liberia Associate Justice Yamie Gbeisaye to thank the people of the County and his professional colleagues for supporting him throughout his work as a lawyer, partly contributing to his appointment and commissioning as Associate Justice of the High Court.

In a very short remark, Cllr. Gongloe applauded Associate Justice Gbeisaye for exercising patience, thereby allowing him to acquire the needed professional experience for the job he occupies today. In the same vein, the LPP standard-bearer asked Liberians that are desirous of seeking top-level positions in government to first gain the relevant experience because it is based on the capability that they would effectively deliver services the public desire.

On the sideline, Cllr. Gongloe rapped some members and leaders of Nimba County-based Free Thinkers Association (FTA) that called to ascertain from him what he would do when elected President of Liberia.

Briefly, the aspirant told the FTA members that Liberia needed conscious people to transform it. It is for this reason he put himself forward for the Presidency in order to put the Country on a proper trajectory. In that regard, he pointed out four (4) of his 10-point ‘Better Liberia Agenda’ which include restoring road

maintenance sites once situated across the Country to keep primary and feeder roads usable year-round, mechanizing farming with focus on rice production to curb food insecurity, providing free primary and secondary education as well as free medical services for pregnant women, infants and the aged.

He ended: “All this is possible once we together fight and defeat corruption which hinders the growth and development of our Country. We will also cut down wasteful spending in government in many ways, including unnecessary foreign travels, amongst others.”
