MONROVIA, LIBERIA – A group of 300 Executive Protective Service (EPS) officers, unjustly dismissed by the Executive Mansion, has issued a stern ultimatum to the Joseph Boakai Government. These officers, entrusted with protecting the President and his family, demand compensation they believe they rightfully deserve within one week. If their demands remain unmet, they warn of taking drastic actions.
The sudden and unexpected dismissal of these EPS officers, shortly after the election of the Unity Party (UP) and Joseph Boakai, has left them shocked and disappointed. Many question the motives behind these mass dismissals of dedicated Liberian citizens.
Compounding the issue, an additional 700 employees at the Executive Mansion were also summarily dismissed. This move has further strained both the financial and emotional well-being of those affected. With over 300 EPS officers now without pay, the situation has become unsustainable.
The repercussions of these dismissals extend beyond financial hardships. Growing discontent and frustration among the affected Liberians have reached a boiling point, with some contemplating street protests. Such mass demonstrations could pose a significant security threat, further destabilizing an already fragile situation.
The Joseph Boakai Government is urged to promptly address the legitimate concerns of the dismissed EPS officers and provide them with the compensation they are owed. Failure to do so within the specified timeframe may lead to serious consequences. Immediate action is necessary to resolve this escalating crisis and safeguard the well-being of Liberian citizens.
