LDEA ARRESTS TWO AT TAPPITA CITY CHECKPOINT FOR MARIJUANA POSSESSION

Date:

TAPPITA, NIMBA COUNTY – Two men were arrested on Friday, April 25, 2025, after Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) officers found a package of marijuana hidden among their belongings during a routine search at the Tappita City Checkpoint.

The suspects, identified as 27-year-old Lawrence Langar of Zonngain Town and 28-year-old Kesselly Vonleh of Gbor Kwipea Town, District #6, were traveling from Leah Town to Tappita when the discovery was made. Authorities said the marijuana, wrapped in a black plastic bag, carried an estimated street value of LRD 30,000.

According to the LDEA, the operation was conducted by the Special Drug Squad (SDS) “Tension” at about 10:40 AM. The two men are currently in custody and are expected to face formal charges in court soon.

The LDEA reiterated its commitment to protecting communities from illegal drugs and urged citizens to report any suspicious activities.
