LNBA TO ANNOUNCE OFFICIAL STANCE ON SUPREME COURT’S RULING IN HOUSE LEADERSHIP DISPUTE

Date:

MONROVIA – The Liberian National Bar Association (LNBA) has announced that it is carefully reviewing the Supreme Court’s recent opinion regarding the leadership impasse within the House of Representatives and will issue a formal position following a thorough legal analysis.

In a press release issued on Friday, April 25, 2025, the LNBA disclosed that it is dissecting the Court’s April 23, 2025 ruling on the Amended Bill of Information filed by House Speaker Hon. Fonati Koffa. The Bar also acknowledged President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s statement on the matter, delivered on April 24, 2025.

The association emphasized that it would not rush to judgment or respond impulsively to the prevailing controversy. Instead, it pledged to engage in a complete and methodical evaluation of the Court’s opinion before addressing the media and the public.

“The LNBA informs the public that the Bar will address the media on its clear-cut position after a full and thorough analysis,” the release stated, underlining the Bar’s commitment to measured and responsible legal commentary.

The LNBA, Liberia’s oldest and most prominent professional legal body, reaffirmed its independence and declared that its actions would remain guided by the principles of the rule of law and the national interest.

“The Bar remains independent and will continue to serve its purpose of upholding the rule of law in the interest of the state,” the statement continued.

The leadership dispute in the House of Representatives has been a major point of tension in recent months, drawing public attention and legal challenges that culminated in the Supreme Court’s ruling.

Signed by Atty. Alpha Daffae Senkpeni, Chairman of the LNBA’s Media and Publicity Committee, the press release signals the Bar’s determination to approach the matter with the gravity and seriousness it demands.
