Jackie Appiah and Liberian President George M. Weah
Some Ghanaian media and gossip corners have made Liberian President George Weah their target for outrageous articles for the past years since he took the helm of power in Liberia.
Even though there has not been any experiential evidence for such publications, this trend persists in the Ghanaian press; with no reaction from the Liberian government in Monrovia.
In recent times, there have been a series of articles both in video, social as well as main strain press regarding the Liberian President’s relationship with Jackie Appiah.
For several years now, rumors have revealed the Ghanaian movie actress is in a social relationship with President Weah to the extent the actress was accused of allegedly carrying a child for the former soccer star turned president.
Canadian-born Ghanaian actress reacted by saying “I’m not pregnant for George Weah”, in a video released months ago.
The rumor went viral after a blogger on Instagram, claimed Jackie Appiah gained weight because she is carrying Weah’s child.
However, the 36-year-old has told her fans to “Ignore” the grapevine.
“Please ignore all rumors, it is not true, I don’t entertain unnecessary rumors, do I look like a pregnant woman here? Please ignore the rumors…I love you all…ignore all rumors”, Jackie told reporters at the naming ceremony of the son of her colleague Victoria Labene.
The beautiful actress also dropped a few more words on the rumors in an Instagram post.
However, the only notable moment that can be linked to Jackie Appiah and George Weah was in December 2017, when the actress congratulated him on winning the presidential election with a photo of both of them together.
“Congratulations to George Weah for winning the presidential elections in Liberia You are a great person and I know you will do great things in Liberia to make the whole of Africa proud,” she had written on Facebook.
Jackie Appiah cleared the air, noting she had nothing going on with President George Weah on United Television Show with Nana Ama McBrown.
Some insinuate that Jackie as an actress does not have funds to build a such lodge and may have gotten help from other sources, maybe Weah.
The actress’ plush home has been trending online for about days now after a Nigerian actress, Luchy Donald, posted a video of herself touring the house. “Jehovah see the house. Oh my geez! Big sis, you finish work,” Luchy screamed after entering the house.
The trending video made it a segment of the Good Morning show hosted by Randy Abbey on Metro Tv. Commenting on the video, the media personality disclosed some unknown information about the house.
According to Randy, it took Jackie Appiah about ten years to complete the construction of her Accra mansion which has got social media talking.
According to him, the Ghanaian actress has other businesses that fetch her income apart from what she earns from her acting roles. “It has taken her 10 years to do this. It is just stereotyping. Yes, there are people who do all manner of things,” but not in the case of the actress.
“Are you saying acting is the only thing she [Jackie] does? The fact that she hasn’t told you the things she does apart from acting does not mean that’s the only thing she does,” the ace Ghanaian broadcaster added.
But a lot of Liberians spoken to in Monrovia by Smart News Liberia are not impressed with the muteness of how the Liberian government is handling the reports in Ghanaian media.
They said it has been years since this very serious allegation emerged and that the Liberian Government should have reacted swiftly and robustly to stop the embarrassment these, “Unsubstantiated “ articles in the Ghanaian press are having not just on the image of the President, but the Liberian nation as a whole.
