MEDICAL TEAM FROM SHARDA HOSPITAL IN INDIA ARRIVES MONDAY FOR FREE SERVICES AT JFK HOSPITAL

MONROVIA – A three-man high-powered Medical Team from Sharda state-of-the-art multi Super speciality Hospital in New Delhi, India, led by the Senior Manager of Sharda Teaching Hospital, Mr. Varun Agarwal is expected to arrive in the country on Monday, June 24, 2024 under the University of Liberia and Sharda University Memorandum of Understanding and Joint Commission. The unique relationship existing between the two institutions guarantee attractive and concrete deals benefiting the entire UL in particular and the country in general.

The medical team official mission to Liberia is in fulfillment of the commitment made by the President, International Relations of Sharda University (SU) and Sharda Group of Companies, Dr. Ashok Daryani during his recent official visit to Liberia as guest of the University of Liberia (UL) President, Prof. Dr. Julius Julukon Saewolo Nelson, Jr.  The Dean of the Amos C. Sawyer College of Social Sciences and Humanities, Associate Professor Dr. Josephus M. Gray was recently appointed as Sharda University Ambassador to the University of Liberia and Republic of Liberia.

The three-man medical delegation include: Mr. Varun Agarwal, Senior Manager of Sharda Teaching Hospital, Dr. Anil Thakwani, Director and Senior Consultant, Department of Oncology and Dr. Nishit Palo, Assistant Professor and Consultant, Department of Orthopedic and Spine Surgery, Sharda Hospital.

While in the country, the medical team under the supervision of Dr. Ashok Daryani will Operate Out Patient Department (OPD) at the John F. Kennedy Medical Hospital (JFK) in association with the administration of the hospital, and the College of Health Sciences at the University of Liberia headed by UL Vice President for Health Sciences, Dr. Bernice Dahn. Also. The team will hold discussion about continuing Medical Education (CME).

The Sharda hospital receives between 50-60 patients from Liberia every year and knows the critical cases coming from Liberia. Generally, Sharda Hospital receives yearly about 500 patients from Africa with Nigeria and Ethiopian at the top. The Sharda superspeciality hospital is equipped with all modern facilities and sophisticated equipment, provides global comprehensive healthcare as preferred destination of healthcare.

The ties between UL and SU provide unique and life touching opportunity for partnership and collaboration for scholarship for faculty members, staffs and students. The University of Liberia’s fruitful academic ties with Sharda University, a distinguished institution of higher learning in India took another positive turn when Dr. Nelson and delegation representing various sectors of the institution’s including ULFA, ULSA, Chairpersons, Council of Deans, Vice Presidents, arrived in India upon the official invitation of the Sharda University authorities. While the President, International Relations of Sharda University and Sharda Group of Companies, Dr. Daryani headed a two-man high-powered delegation to Liberia as guest of the University of Liberia.

The ties subsisting between Sharda University and University of Liberia dates as far back as 2021 when Mr. Sachin Saini visited Monrovia in his role as International Relation Manager to market the institution. It was during that visit that Dr. Josephus Gray invited Mr. Saini to the Fendall campus of UL for discussion regarding establishing MoU. As anticipated, the visit proceeded very well and since then Mr. Saini’s impression about UL widened, and upon his return to India, he extended an official invitation for UL to dispatch an assessment team for visit. Since that visit, engagements by the two universities have continued to deepen ties.

In October 2022 a three-man UL delegation (Atty. Cletus A. Sieh, Coordinator, Office of the President; Prof. Dr. Josephus Moses Gray, Dean, Amos C. Sawyer College of Social Sciences and Humanities and Associate Professor Richmond S. Anderson, Chairperson, Department of Political Science) high-powered visited India to strengthen ties with Sharda University. The trip helped to create a strong impetus for human capital development and academic empowerment.

Sharda University maintains strict adherence to either publish before be promoted or perish which means if a particular faculty fail to publish a peer-reviewed article or book, the faculty cannot be promoted on the job. This is the policy of the Indian Government and is strictly adhered to by all universities and colleges. Therefore, it is obligatory that faculty publish two to three peer-reviewed articles in one of the recognized journals and published book. It is also mandatory for a department to publish a book every year.

The Sharda University Campus is very peaceful and quiet. No political party on the campus or student violent activities. There is no history of faculty or staff go-slow or protest. Instead, disagreements are resolved amicably through the Special Committee or Deans. The institution is a private university and as such it attaches importance to academic activities, not students’ politics.

The school develops political scientists who go into the world to contribute positively to societal growth. The faculty and students at Sharda University and teaching Hospital yearly have published over 3,000 per-reviewed articles, books, book chapters, research works. Every student at Sharda University and teaching hospital must conduct research under the supervision of a senior faculty who must hold a Ph.D. degree in the field or discipline of the student program.

From 8am up to 9PM, the Sharda university library is open to students and faculty members and the books and other academic materials are well coded and arranged according to schools and degree program. Besides the hard copies of books and materials, the school also has in its database over 60,000 electronic books, journals, manuscripts, and other educational materials for students and faculty use.

Sharda Group of Institutions has been a provider of world-class education since 1996. It is the largest educational group based in Uttar Pradesh, having 13,000+ students and 900+ faculty strength. It has 23000+ alumni who are today leaders in their realms. The university campus can be described as less than a town due to the limited land spaces of 63 acres, but people can enjoy within the campus with lots of facilities.
