NIGERIAN GOVERNMENT PURPORTED MUSA BILITY’S ARREST REQUEST TO LIBERIA IS DATED MAY 19, 2017

Date:

MONROVIA – News of the alleged arrest for Liberty Party Chairman Musa Bility has heightened, but Mr. Bility has trashed the report and said it is the work of less busy people.

Interestingly, Smart News has in its possession documents carrying the seal and emblem of the Government of Nigeria in which the Federal Republic of Nigeria Government is requesting the Government of Liberia to arrest and turn over Mr. Bility for varying reasons.

An exiled Liberian rights activist, Martin Kollie had broken the news that Interpol’s arrest warrant was out for Bility, who’s also a prominent Businessman.

“Interpol has profiled you as a transnational criminal. You are involved into a US$12 million dragnet. No escape route for you this time around”, Kollie said on his Facebook post.

Kollie continued: “Interpol detectives came first, you ran into hiding in Saclepea, Nimba County. Suspect Bility, they are coming tomorrow again, July 5, 2022, to have you arrested. Read what they sent to MOJ on June 29, 2022.”

Smart News checked the Interpol’s official website but did not see any warrant or alert for the arrest of Mr. Bility.

However, obtained documents purportedly from the Federal Government of Nigeria requesting the Liberia Minister of Justice to aid in the arrest of Mr. Bility.

Interestingly, the documents were dated May 17, 2017. Smart News Liberia has been able to verify from the Nigerian Government whether the letter to the Liberia Justice Ministry is genuine.

It is not however clear why the warrant if genuine, has not been enforced since 2017, during the administration of former president Ellen Johnson Worked. Investigation continues.
