PRES. WEAH SUPPORTS TESTS FOR BREAST CANCER IN LIBERIA

LIBERIA – President George Weah has joined calls for citizens to do regular breast cancer tests and early treatment.

President Weah spoke over the weekend when he joined First Lady Clar Weah, Government officials, and health workers to create awareness of Breast Cancer in Monrovia.

The Liberian Leader further pledged a cash contribution of fifty-thousand United States Dollars towards a fund drive, to support health workers to do their breast cancer tests.

President Weah called on the public to show support for everyone affected by breast cancer and urged men not to abandon their spouses affected by the disease.

Also speaking, First Lady Clar Weah said;” Breast cancer is real, the disease is not affecting only women and girls but also men.”

She emphasized that early detection of the disease can go a long way in saving lives, with a call for everyone to be vigilant about the detection of the disease.

For her part, Health Minister Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah disclosed the Liberian Government’s plan to shortly send nurses abroad for training in cancer care and examination of breasts among others.
