QUITA KOSO DOLO PLEADS GUILTY IN COCAINE TRAFFICKING CASE

By Our Reporter I Smart News Liberia

MONROVIA – Quita Kosso Dolo has reportedly admitted guilt in a major cocaine trafficking case currently being heard before the 13th Judicial Circuit Court, further intensifying public attention on Liberia’s growing narcotics problem and allegations of corruption within state security institutions.

Court documents indicate that Dolo, a Liberian businesswoman entered a guilty plea during Friday’s proceedings together with co-defendant Abdudllah Sheriff. However, four other defendants linked to the case, including officers of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), rejected the charges and are expected to continue facing trial.

The criminal case originated from the seizure of more than three kilograms of cocaine allegedly found in Dolo’s luggage shortly after her arrival at the Roberts International Airport aboard Kenya Airways Flight KQ887 from Bangkok, Thailand.

Investigators estimate the street value of the confiscated drugs at over US$181,000, making the incident one of the country’s latest major drug trafficking scandals with international connections.

Meanwhile, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency says investigations into the matter remain ongoing, with additional inquiries expected into how the narcotics allegedly entered the country and whether other individuals may have been connected to the operation.

The court is expected to continue hearings for the remaining defendants, all of whom continue to maintain their innocence in the case.
