LIBERIA – A 31-year-old Guinean Bissau national named Malam Conte has been arrested by Liberian Joint Securities in connection with a big Cocaine catch in Monrovia.
A joint operation comprising the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA), and the National Security Agency (NSA) have arrested a 31-year-old Guinean Bissau national identity as Malam Conte. The arrest was made in plain view following an intelligence tipoff from the U.S. government.
LDEA raided SONIT Liberia Inc. compound and seized a huge quantity of raw Cocaine concealed among frozen goods allegedly owned by SONIT Inc., cold storage for frozen food.
31-year-old Guinean national, Malam Conte was arrested by the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency and the National Security Agency.
The raid took place in the suburb of Monrovia, in Topoe Village along the Japanese Free Way. However, the company has distanced it selves from the act and has since collaborated with the LDEA to ensure the arrest. The value of the confiscated drug is about Hundred Million United State Dollars.
Following the arrest, Security sources told Smart News Liberia that suspect Conte admitted having a connection with the consignment and stated that he has since arrived in the country about two weeks ago to await the consignment.
During the joint security preliminary investigation, suspect Conte said he was asked by his international partners to follow the consignment and ensure it reaches the final destination. However, he did not know whether Liberia is the final destination.
Smart News Liberia gathered that Malam arrived in the country with two other accomplices who checked in at a local hotel in Monrovia.
