LIBERIAN PRESIDENT SEEKS $41.3 MILLION AUTHORIZATION FOR FEBRUARY OPERATIONS

Date:

Liberian President Joseph N. Boakai, Sr. has requested authorization from the Plenary of the House of Representatives to spend $41.3 million for the government’s operations in February 2024. This request is crucial to ensure the continuity of government functions and prevent any potential shutdown.

The draft budget for the fiscal year 2024 is currently being finalized for resubmission after being returned. The President’s objective is to ensure that essential services are not disrupted and that the government can continue to serve its citizens effectively.

To review the request, the Communication has been forwarded to the House’s Committee on Ways, Means, and Finance, as well as the Committee on Public Accounts. These committees will review the proposal and provide a report within two weeks.

By securing the authorization for this spending, Liberia’s government will be able to maintain stability and public trust by ensuring the uninterrupted provision of essential services throughout February 2024.
