POLICE OFFICER JABATEH HEADS TO INDIA FOR ADVANCED MEDICAL TREATMENT

Date:

MONROVIA – Police Inspector Morhafee M. Jabateh of the Liberia National Police (LNP), severely injured during the gas tanker explosion in Totota, Bong County in December 2023, departed for India on Monday, July 15, 2024, to receive advanced medical care. In a brief statement at the Roberts International Airport (RIA) in Margibi County, Officer Jabateh expressed gratitude to the Government of Liberia and Inspector General of Police Hon. Georgry Coleman for facilitating his treatment journey.

“I am deeply grateful to the Government of Liberia and Inspector General Georgry Coleman for assisting me in receiving medical treatment in India,” Inspector Jabateh said emotionally. “When I reflect on life, I realize that accidents can happen unexpectedly. I appreciate the support and prayers from everyone who has stood by me during this challenging time.”

Inspector Jabateh recounted the events of December 26, 2023, when the tragic explosion occurred while he was on duty in Totota. “I received a report of a tanker accident, and upon arrival at the scene, I saw the tanker leaking gas,” he recalled. “The situation was critical, and we immediately called for backup as a large crowd gathered around the tanker.”

He expressed hope for a full recovery and emphasized the importance of teamwork and dedication within the Liberia National Police. “I urge all officers to remain committed to their duties and uphold teamwork,” he stated. “Together, we can overcome challenges and build a stronger police force for our country.”

Inspector Jabateh’s departure marks a significant step in his road to recovery, supported by the solidarity and assistance of his colleagues and the Liberian government. His journey to India for specialized medical treatment emphasizes the ongoing challenges and risks faced by law enforcement officers in the line of duty, highlighting the need for continued support and resources for police personnel across Liberia.
