HOUSE SUSPENDS YEKEH KOLUBAH FOR 30 SESSION DAYS

Date:

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – The Plenary of the House of Representatives, led by the Majority Bloc, has voted to suspend controversial Montserrado County District #10 Representative Yekeh Kolubah for a period of 30 session days.

The suspension follows a report submitted by the Chair of the House’s Committee on Rules, Order, and Administration, Bong County District #2 Representative James Kolleh, on behalf of the committee. The report recommended disciplinary action against Kolubah following a complaint lodged by Representative Johnson Williams of River Gee County. Williams accused Kolubah of disrespectful behavior toward the current leadership of the House.

The motion for suspension garnered significant support from the majority of lawmakers, though there were dissenting votes. Representatives Matthew Joe, Emmanuel Dahn, and Sumo Mulbah voiced their opposition to the suspension, arguing against the decision.

Kolubah, who has been known for his outspoken and often controversial stance on government issues, is temporarily prohibited from participating in House deliberations and other legislative duties. His suspension follows a series of tensions with the House leadership, raising questions about the growing political divisions within Liberia’s legislature.

In response to the suspension, Representative Kolubah dismissed the Majority Bloc’s actions, referring to them as ‘so so jokers’ in a social media post. He voiced his dissatisfaction with the decision and hinted at pursuing legal redress to challenge the suspension.
