COMMERCIAL COURT ENFORCES US$1.23 MILLION JUDGMENT AGAINST ERA RURAL LLC

MONROVIA – The Commercial Court of Liberia has issued a writ of execution ordering the seizure and sale of properties belonging to Era Rural LLC and its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Robert Abou Jaoude, to settle an outstanding debt exceeding US$1.23 million owed to Sapelle International Bank (Liberia) Limited (SIB).

Chief Judge Eva Mappy Morgan presided over the proceedings that led to the court’s decision. The action follows a judgment in favor of SIB, which filed a lawsuit against Era Rural LLC for failing to repay a commercial loan. According to court records, SIB, represented by its General Manager, Mr. Patrick Ebo Kittoe, accused the defendants of breaching their financial obligations.

The writ of execution, dated September 11, 2025, mandates the Sheriff of the Commercial Court to seize and expose for sale any land, goods, and chattels owned by Era Rural LLC and Mr. Jaoude. The goal is to recover the total debt of US$1,230,893.96. The court further instructed that if the sale of movable assets does not generate the required amount, the company’s real properties should also be seized and sold to satisfy the judgment.

Acting on the court’s order, the Sheriff arrested Mr. Jaoude and presented him before the court, where he was directed to make another commitment to the bank.

This ruling underscores the Commercial Court’s firm stance on enforcing debt judgments and ensuring corporate accountability. It also serves as a warning to companies operating in Liberia about the importance of honoring contractual and financial obligations.

The decision follows months of legal proceedings and is seen as one of the court’s most significant debt enforcement actions in recent terms.
