KOFFA FIRES BACK AT UP SURROGATES, DECLARES CDC “HI-TECH HEADQUARTERS”

MONROVIA – Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, J. Fonati Koffa, has responded to what he describes as shifting narratives from Unity Party (UP) surrogates regarding a controversial building project, while reaffirming confidence in the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC).

In a statement posted publicly on his Facebook page on Monday, April 13, 2026, Koffa criticized what he called inconsistent explanations surrounding the nature and purpose of the structure, suggesting that the claims have changed repeatedly over time.

“UP surrogates are interesting. First, they say it was an AI building; then they say it was in the overpass right-of-way; then they said it would be in the six-lane highway; now they’re saying it will be a law firm,” Koffa stated.

His remarks reflect comments made by Deputy Speaker Thomas Fallah on OK FM on Monday, April 13, 2026, during which Fallah directed criticism toward the CDC. The exchange comes amid ongoing political tension over allegations and counter-allegations surrounding the construction of the CDC headquarters, which has become a subject of debate between ruling and opposition voices.

Koffa, a senior figure within the CDC, dismissed the shifting explanations as politically motivated and instead framed the project as a major future asset for his political bloc.

“Let me tell you what it will be: the hi-tech Headquarters of the mighty Congress for Democratic Change with its 2029 arrowhead, Dr. George Mennen Weah,” he declared, referring to former President George Weah.

The former Speaker further used the statement to project confidence in the CDC’s political future, signaling the party’s long-term ambitions ahead of the 2029 electoral cycle.

“Don’t worry about the CDC, worry about the tsunami,” Koffa added, in a remark widely interpreted as a metaphor for a strong political comeback or resurgence by the opposition bloc.
