Rudolph Kwanue University (RKU) is a private university in Liberia committed to expanding access to quality, affordable, and relevant higher education through academic excellence, innovation, research, and community development.
Founded on June 1, 2017, by Bishop Prof. Rudolph Q. Kwanue Sr., PhD, RKU was established with the vision of making higher education accessible to all, especially students from underserved communities, while preparing graduates for leadership, professional excellence, entrepreneurship, and national development.
Accreditation and Academic Development
Following its establishment, RKU began the process of seeking national recognition and quality assurance through the National Commission on Higher Education (NCHE), Republic of Liberia.
The University applied for NCHE accreditation in 2018 and 2020. NCHE conducted institutional assessments of RKU in 2018 and 2021, evaluating the University’s academic programs, governance structure, facilities, administrative systems, and institutional readiness.
After successfully completing the required assessment processes, RKU was granted accreditation by NCHE in November 2022 to operate bachelor’s degree programs.
NCHE Accreditation ID: PV-059202
The accreditation represented a significant milestone in RKU’s commitment to providing recognized and quality higher education opportunities in Liberia.
Academic Programs and Faculties
RKU offers bachelor’s degree programs through the following faculties:
1. Faculty of Education
2. Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
3. Faculty of Business and Travel & Tourism

These academic programs are designed to develop graduates with professional knowledge, leadership skills, research capacity, innovation, and practical competencies needed to contribute to Liberia, Africa, and the global community.
RKU is expanding its educational services beyond Monrovia through teacher training programs, professional studies, and workforce development initiatives.
The University has received approval through the Ministry of Education (the County Education Officer) to conduct teacher training programs in Grand Bassa County and is in the process of expanding similar programs to other counties, including Nimba,Lofa Margibi and Bong Counties.
RKU’s vision is to bring accessible higher education, professional training, and skills development closer to communities throughout Liberia.
One of RKU’s greatest strengths is its commitment to educational access and support for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Over the past four years, RKU has provided tuition-free scholarship opportunities to more than 6,000 Liberian students, helping many young people pursue higher education regardless of their financial circumstances.
Through affordable tuition and scholarship initiatives, RKU continues to demonstrate its belief that financial challenges should not prevent qualified individuals from accessing education.
To strengthen academic research, innovation, and knowledge sharing, RKU is establishing the:
Rudolph Kwanue University Journal of Research and Innovation (RKU-JRI)
The journal will provide a platform for faculty members, students, researchers, and professionals to publish academic research, share knowledge, and contribute innovative solutions to national and global challenges.
RKU has established Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) and partnerships with several high schools, clinics, organizations, and community institutions to strengthen education, professional development, and community service.
Among these partnerships is collaboration with Nimba Kwado Inc., along with other institutions supporting educational advancement, community empowerment, and human development.
