MONROVIA – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai on Friday, September 11, 2026, announced a series of changes across key government institutions, appointing acting ministers to the Ministries of National Defense and Commerce and Industry while making additional appointments at the county and national levels.
The changes affect the Ministries of National Defense, Commerce and Industry, and Local Government, as well as the National Food Assistance Agency and the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission.
At the Ministry of National Defense, Cllr. Oswald Natu Tweh has been appointed Acting Minister, while outgoing Minister Geraldine J. George is to be reassigned.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry will also have new acting leadership, with Mr. Stephen Marka Yekeson Jr. appointed Acting Minister. The outgoing minister, Magdalene E. Dagoseh, is likewise to be reassigned.
President Boakai has also appointed Hon. Christopher Ben Bailey as Acting Superintendent of Grand Gedeh County.
At the National Food Assistance Agency, Mr. Mike Khailelu B. Jabateh has been named Acting Deputy Director General for Publicity.
Meanwhile, Mr. Daniel Frank Gould II has been appointed to serve as a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission, subject to confirmation by the Liberian Senate.
The appointments represent another adjustment of leadership within the Boakai administration as the government continues to position officials across institutions responsible for national security, commerce, local administration, food assistance and public procurement.
The Presidency did not provide specific reasons for the reassignment of the outgoing ministers, leaving their next government assignments to be determined.
The changes come alongside a separate disciplinary action against a senior government official, signaling that the administration is placing renewed emphasis on conduct and performance within public service.
The latest appointments were announced by Presidential Press Secretary Atty. Kula B.N. Fofana.
