MONROVIA – The Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) has rubbished allegations by former Truth and Reconciliation Commission Chairman Jerome Verdier that the raid and murder at the home of former Chief Justice Gloria Musu-Scott was carried out by one Varlee Talleh allegedly on orders of City Mayor Jefferson Koijee.
In a lives radio interview, Cllr. Verdier alleged that Varlee Terleh, said to be a former rebel, acted on orders of Mr. Koijee.
According to Cllr. Verdier, Varlee Telleh had straight orders allegedly from Koijee to enter Cllr. Musu-Scott’s home, sodomize her before killing her.
Koijee has denied the claims and has since threatened to sue the luminary Liberian lawyer who is based in the United States.
In fact, in one press conference, the MCC displayed Varlee Telleh said to be an employee of the MCC.
Talleh himself has since denied the allegations by Cllr. Verdier and added that he did not do anything wrong and has never escaped the country as alleged by Cllr. Verdier.
However, Monrovia City Police officers are not allowed to carry weapons in the country, but photos of Varlee Telleh released recently showed him carrying various kinds of weapons.
The Monrovia City Corporation did not say how one of their officers, a patrolman, obtained the weapons he has been carrying when on assignment with the city mayor.
Cllr. Verdier classified Varlee Talleh as a dangerous former Liberian rebel whom he said had allegedly killed innocent people during the Liberian civil wars.
While the debate is ongoing, leaked photos of Varlee Terleh show him wearing different security uniforms bearing weapons.
Monrovia City Mayor Koijee said Varlee Terleh is an imam at a mosque in Brewerville on the outskirt of Monrovia; but Cllr. Verdeir disclosed that he is allegedly leading a death square for the Monrovia City Mayor.
