SUA-YELLE MULTIPURPOSE COOPERATIVE ENDS LEADERSHIP SEMINAR IN BONG

BONG COUNTY – With support from ECOWAS, Africa Rice and Catalyst partners Sua-Yelle Multipurpose Cooperative in Gbartala, Yellequelleh District#5 has ended a one-day leadership symposium with its cooperative members in Bong County.

Sua-Yelle Multipurpose Cooperative members are encouraged in the cultivation of a variety of crops including vegetables, legumes, and rice in the County.

Mr. Paul Bolorundduro, an executive member of Sua-Yelle Multipurpose Cooperative, revealed the leadership seminar or symposium was meant to introduce a new methodology of the farming system to local Farmers due to climate change.

Mr. Bolorundduro noted that the symposium will further give the right to members of the cooperative, especially on smart agriculture farming activities in central Liberia, adding that it provides the local farmers’ knowledge on how to combine crops in one plot due to climate change.

He further explained that for Liberia to be on the path with its counterparts in Agriculture it is prudent for local Farmers across the country to be acquainted with new farming methods.

He believes by doing so will help boost productivity in the agriculture sector of Liberia.

Mr. Bolorundduro further revealed that the Sua-Yelle Multipurpose Cooperative aims to strengthen business and enterprise development services by promoting access to finance, capacity- building and innovation that are responsive to the rights and needs for the economic advancement of local farmers in Bong County.

Also remarking at the occasion, the Ministry of Agriculture County Coordinator for Bong County, Mr. Kollie Nahn pledged the Ministry of Agriculture’s commitment to ensuring that the human capacities of Cooperatives and local Farmers are in full swing in the Country.

Mr. Nahn then encouraged Cooperative members and Local Farmers to subscribe to the combination of farming practices in the Country if they are to continuously widen their knowledge in the Country’s farming sector.

For their part, participants who attended the leadership seminar extended commendations to the management of Sua-Yelle Multipurpose Cooperative and her partners for the great initiative and also promised to utilize the separate knowledge acquire from the one-day symposium in the County.

They further described the symposium as an eye-opener for them as local farmers in Bong County.
