MONROVIA – Ahead of its grand campaign launch slated for Sunday, 17 September 2023 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium, the main opposition Unity Party (UP) of former Vice President Joseph Nyuma Boakai (JNB), has released the itinerary for the occasion dubbed “Green Day.”
The Unity Party, in concert with its political allies known as The Unity Party Alliance, which comprises the Economic Freedom Fighters of Liberia (EFFL), the Rainbow Alliance, Movement for One Liberia, (MOL), the National Democratic Coalition (NDC), and Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence’s faction of the segmented Liberty Party (LP), on today, announced the various routes the “Rescue Train” would take, as well as those who are poised to lead the parades from several locations in Monrovia and it suburbs onto the ATS on Sunday, 17 September for the campaign launch.
According to the Unity Party Alliance, gates at the venue of the launch will be opened to the public at early as 7 AM, and that there would be a morning worship service held to invoke God’s blessings upon the occasion, at which political pundits are predicting a tumultuous turnout of Liberians from all walks of life.
The vice chair for administration for the UP campaign widely known as the “Rescue Mission”, former ruling National Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman, Maryland County Senator James Biney, will lead supporters of the “Rescue Mission” from VOA Junction in Paynesville, while UP’s Montserrado senatorial candidate Wilmot Paye would join Montserrado Senator, Abraham Darius Dillon, to lead supporters from Barnersville Junction.
Before events at the ATS get underway on 17 September, it’s expected that the political leader of the Movement for One Liberia, Madam MacDella Cooper, will pick up from MOL’s Congo Town Headquarters to join the fiesta at the campaign launch, while the “Rescue Mission” Campaign Manager, Bong County Senator Prince Moye, will lead supporters from 72nd Junction, situated between Oldest Congo Town and Paynesvile City.
Gbarpolu County first female Senator Botoe Kanneh and the Economic Freedom Fighters of Liberia will lead the parade form Point-4 Junction, located at Bushrod Island, while UP National Chairman; Rev. Luther Tarpeh will lead another parade of supporters from the UP Headquarters on Broad Street.
“Rescue Mission” National Campaign chairperson, Grand Bassa Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence will lead supporters from Nigeria House, Old Road Junction, while Nimba Senator and UP’s vice presidential candidate, Jeremiah Kpan Koon, who is also known as Rescue-2, will lead his group of supporters from the Police Academy Junction, in Paynesville City, and former VP and UP standard bearer Joseph Nyuma Boakai, with the appelation Rescue-1, will lead supporters from SKD Sports Complex in Paynesville.
Meanwhile, all Unity Party Alliance candidates for the House of Representatives will lead their supporters from their various districts and they all would then assemble at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium for the “Green Day” campaign launch.
