MONROVIA – The President of the University of Liberia (UL), Prof. Dr. Layli Maparyan, on Friday, March 21, 2025, met with a delegation from Sharda University in India to discuss strengthening academic cooperation between the two institutions. The meeting, held at UL’s Capitol Hill campus, focused on expanding educational partnerships, faculty exchanges, and research collaborations.
The delegation included Mr. Sachin Saini, Manager of International Relations at Sharda University, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Josephus Moses Gray, Dean of the Amos C. Sawyer College of Social Sciences and Humanities at UL. Dr. Gray, who also serves as an adjunct faculty member at Sharda University’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences, has been instrumental in fostering ties between the two universities.
During the meeting, discussions centered on the implementation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at facilitating faculty and student exchanges, joint research projects, and scholarship opportunities. The MoU also includes provisions for credit transfers, medical benefits, and faculty development programs.
One key outcome of the discussions was an agreement for three faculty members from each university to co-author a book titled Liberia-India Governance System: The Analysis. Additionally, plans were finalized for a visit by the Dean and two faculty members from Sharda University’s School of Humanities, along with a medical team, to UL in the coming months.
Mr. Saini reaffirmed Sharda University’s commitment to enhancing academic collaboration and supporting Liberian students studying in India. He provided an update on the performance of UL-sponsored students at Sharda University and emphasized the institution’s dedication to expanding opportunities for academic growth.
