MONROVIA – The U.S. African Development Foundation (USADF) will host an Agricultural Trade Fair on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the Bella Cassa Hotel in Monrovia. The event, scheduled to run from 9:05 AM to 12:50 PM, marks a significant milestone with USADF President and CEO Travis Adkins meeting representatives of selected Liberian USADF-funded agricultural grantees for the first time.
The fair aims to highlight the critical role of USADF funding in Liberia’s agricultural sector, providing a platform for grantees to showcase their products and share insights into their work. The event will feature diverse agricultural initiatives benefitting from USADF grant support, ranging from cocoa production to multipurpose cooperative societies empowering women in sustainable development.
Officials from the United States Embassy, USADF delegation members, technical partner staff, and around 15 agricultural grantees will attend the trade fair. The event will include a welcome address, cultural performances, and remarks from USADF’s President and CEO Travis Adkins, along with other dignitaries. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will also be part of the proceedings.
Adkins is set to deliver remarks reaffirming USADF’s commitment to agricultural-led economic growth in Liberia. He will emphasize USADF’s dedication to equipping African farmers, cooperatives, producer associations, and agripreneurs with the necessary tools and knowledge to improve livelihoods and enhance food security.
Since the inception of USADF programming in Liberia in 2006, USADF has invested over $15 million to support approximately 194 cooperative societies, producer organizations, and grassroots enterprises, benefiting thousands of smallholder farmers and other underserved populations across the country. These investments align with the U.S. Government’s efforts to improve food security and provide secure livelihoods, especially for underserved populations and communities.
