LIBERIA: ALCOP LEADER KAMARA WANTS LIBERIA RESCUED FROM ITS CURRENT PREDICAMENT UNDER WEAH

Date:

MONROVIA – The political leader of the All-Liberian Coalition Party (ALCOP), Lusinee F. Kamara, has emphasized the importance of rescuing Liberia from what he termed the country’s current state of predicament under the leadership of retired soccer star George Weah, as president.

Kamara, who made these assertions Monday, in a meeting with the standard bearer of the Unity Party, former Vice President Joseph N. Boakai (JNB), did not elaborate on what he meant by the country’s current state of predicament.

The Monday’s meeting, which was also attended by executive members of ALCOP and the Unity Party Alliance, was a consultative one aimed at Kamara’s party endorsing Boakai and the UP in the country’s upcoming presidential election slated for 14 November.

Kamara and the ALCOP ranked fourth in the country’s recently-concluded race for the presidency, garnering 35,988 votes, representing 1.96% of the total votes cast in the 10 October presidential election.

He stated that the meeting was an accumulation of a long-standing relationship between JNB and the ALCOP, according to a statement released to the press by the Office of former Vice President and Standard Bearer of UP, Boakai.

The ALCOP political leader, according to the statement, maintained that the objective of all well-meaning Liberians should be fixated on rescuing the nation from what he referred to as its present predicament.

Boakai, for his part, asserted that all Liberians are entitled to the country and its resources, indicating that all citizens of the country should enjoy the benefits of the land including freedom of religion and worship, and that all Liberians should work together to achieve such goal.

The UP standard bearer entreated all Liberians to work together for the development of the nation, according to the statement.
