FORMER PRESIDENTIAL AIDE FACES LEGAL BATTLE OVER UNPAID CAMPAIGN DEBT

Date:

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – A legal dispute has emerged involving Madam Finda Bundo, former Chief of Protocol under ex-President George Weah, as she faces a lawsuit over an unsettled financial obligation. The Debt Court of Montserrado County has summoned Bundo following a complaint from Jerome F. Walkely, who alleges that she failed to pay the full cost of campaign materials used during the 2023 elections.

Walkely claims that he was contracted to produce campaign supplies, including 213 cartons of victory balloon sticks, for the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC). The total cost of the order amounted to $38,000, with Bundo reportedly assuming responsibility for the payment. The shipment, facilitated through the Ministry of State, was partially paid for in two initial transactions totaling $20,000. Walkely asserts that these payments were made through Bundo’s representatives, identified as Toe Wesseh and James Emmanuel Potter.

Despite these partial payments, Walkely maintains that a balance of $18,000 remained outstanding. Efforts to collect the full amount proved difficult, prompting him to seek legal representation. This intervention led to an additional payment of $4,000, but the remaining $14,000 remains unpaid, triggering the current court action.

With legal proceedings now underway, Bundo finds herself at the center of a financial controversy that has drawn public interest due to her former government position. The court’s involvement signals a serious step in resolving the matter, and the outcome could have legal and reputational consequences for the former official.
