CLINIC ADMINISTRATOR ARRESTED FOR MANSLAUGHTER

Date:

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Sam Wolobah, the administrator of Lofa Medic Services Clinic in Neezoe, Jacob Town, has been arrested and charged with manslaughter and impersonating a medical professional. Court documents from the Paynesville City Magistrate Court confirm that Wolobah was apprehended following allegations that he unlawfully performed surgery on a patient, Samuel P. Kollie, who later died.

According to the writ of arrest issued by the court, Wolobah falsely presented himself as a registered and licensed doctor, conducting a surgical procedure on Kollie without proper medical authorization. The patient, who remained at the clinic for post-surgical observation, was pronounced dead the following day. This led to the filing of formal charges against Wolobah under Sections 14.2 and 12.35 of Liberia’s New Penal Code.

Following his arrest on March 19, 2025, Wolobah was formally charged and transferred to the Paynesville City Magistrate Court for legal proceedings. Prosecutors have presented evidence detailing how he misrepresented his qualifications and carried out unauthorized medical procedures, resulting in the tragic death of Kollie.

The Liberia Medical and Dental Board (LMDB), acting as a private prosecutor in the case, has condemned Wolobah’s actions as a blatant violation of medical regulations that endanger public health. James-Emmanuel D. Cole, Jr., speaking on behalf of the LMDB, emphasized the importance of strict adherence to medical standards, urging the public to report any suspicious medical practices to prevent similar tragedies. He stressed that the case sets a precedent and serves as a warning that no individual should be allowed to practice medicine without proper credentials.

Wolobah remains in custody at the Paynesville City Court, awaiting trial. Under Liberian law, a manslaughter conviction carries a significant prison sentence, and impersonating a medical professional is a grave offense. The court has yet to determine whether he will be granted bail as legal proceedings continue.
