MONROVIA – The European Union (EU) and its Member States, including Germany, Ireland, France, and Sweden, have issued a press statement today welcoming the establishment of the Office of War and Economic Crimes Court for Liberia. This move is in response to Executive Order No. 131 signed by President Joseph Boakai on May 2nd, 2024, following a joint resolution by the Liberian legislature on mechanisms for setting up an extraordinary criminal court and a domestic corruption court for war and economic crimes.
