LIBERIA – The Standard Bearer of Liberia’s main opposition political party, Unity Party (UP), ex-Vice President Ambassador Joseph N. Boakai (JNB), has hailed Lofa County for what he described as the county’s splendid performance in the ongoing National County Sports Meet.
Both the kickball and football teams of Lofa, having qualified atop their various groups in the preliminary stage of the nation’s most glamorous sporting fiesta, are through to the grand finale of this year’s National County Sports Meet.
Ambassador Boakai, according to a statement from his Office, has hailed the football and kick-ball teams of Lofa County for their splendid performance so far in this year’s National County Sports Meets being held at the SKD Sports Complex near the capital, Monrovia.
In the statement issued Wednesday, Ambassador Boakai attributed Lofa County’s Semi-Final victory over Bong County, which places the Lofa football squad in the Grand Final, to what he referred to as the result of hard work and unity exhibited by supporters and people of Lofa County.
The UP Standard Bearer, a native of Lofa County, expressed the hope that ahead of the October 2023 elections, the people of Lofa will remain similarly united to bring the presidency to the county.
According to the statement, Ambassador Boakai further noted that Lofa County continues to do extremely well in the competition of football and kickball games, thanking the players and technical staff for taking giant steps that have brought pride to the county and its people.
The former Veep then showered praises on both the football and kick-ball teams for bringing joy and pride to Lofa County.
Speaking on the fact that in both the kick-ball and football categories, Lofa County has qualified for the Grand finale slated to be held on Sunday, January 15, he said, “It is my prayer and call that the entire County, including people of all the Districts, shall come out with a massive show of support for the Wologisi Boys this Sunday to cheer the squad and county to victory.”
