Liberian President’s response to local media on his return from the United States and United Arab Emirates yesterday gives credence to rumors that he was actually lynched by the American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
President Weah arrived at the Robert International Airport (RIA) yesterday void of the regular fanfare; and was wearing an apparently embarrassed face. He was very unkind to the media, not really giving the desired answers to inquiries after all the rumor mail about his alleged humiliation by the CIA.
Weah did not touch on the CIA issue; and as if he did not want to be bothered about the embarrassing issue, he put up an arrogant posture with the aim of scaring journalists from quizzing him on the topic.
George Weah had forgotten that his trip abroad was financed by taxpayers. And that’s why Liberians are concerned about his refusal to tell Liberians the overview of his travel. “Are you asking the president about his trip?”, Weah asked a Journalist who attempted to hear from him on the US mission. The Liberian leader responded as if he should not be asked about travel that was financed by Liberian tax dollars.
The Liberian Leader and his government had earlier tried to divert the rumors about his grilling by the CIA, by suggesting his trip to UAE made a big catch by signing a US$50 Billion Blue Climate deal. The government’s statement was immediately shut down by other Liberians that the figure was alarming and unrealistic.
Political pundits said the president’s posture yesterday at the RIA is a realistic ripple effect of what actually transpired in the US. He was alleged to have been grilled and humiliated by the CIA for alleged money laundering, drug trafficking, and corruption in his country.
The Liberian Government is yet to counter the report of his grilling by the CIA; and that he himself could not help himself upon arrival at the RIA yesterday; by his intimidating response and refusal to answer Journalists’ inquiries on the US mission.
