MONROVIA – The Liberia Medical and Dental Council (LMDC) has issued a public alert, declaring that Mohamed Ahmed Sheriff is not a licensed medical doctor in Liberia.
The regulatory body has confirmed that the medical license he presents, bearing License Number 78/2057 and allegedly signed by former LMDC Chairperson Dr. Linda Birch, is fraudulent.
In a strongly worded statement, the LMDC made it clear that Dr. Birch never issued such a license to Sheriff, and the document in question does not match any official records. The council is now calling on the public to assist in locating Sheriff, warning that unlicensed medical practice is both illegal and a serious public health threat.
The revelation has sparked concerns about the potential harm caused by individuals posing as medical professionals.
The LMDC emphasized that performing medical or surgical procedures without proper qualifications is not just an ethical violation; it is a crime that endangers lives.
Activist Martin K. N. Kollie has been credited with bringing this case to public attention, reinforcing the need for vigilance against medical fraud. The LMDC has urged citizens to report any suspected cases of medical impersonation to the council or law enforcement authorities to prevent further risks to public health.
As the hunt for Mohamed Ahmed Sheriff intensifies, the LMDC’s warning serves as a reminder that Liberia’s healthcare system must be safeguarded from fraudsters who exploit public trust.
