MONROVIA – Barely a week after former Chief Justice Gloria Musu-Scott’s home was attacked and her daughter, Charloe Musu gruesomely murdered, a plot to attack the vehicle of Grand Bassa County Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, along the Bassa highway, has been uncovered.
Both Cllr. Musu-Scott and Senator Karnga-Lawrence have a client-lawyer relationship, with the former currently representing the latter as her legal counsel in matters bordering around leadership squabble within the opposition Liberty Party (LP), where the Bassa Senator, as the party’s Political Leader is in a legal battle with businessman cum politician Musa Hassan Bility, chairman of LP.
According to Senator Karnga-Lawrence, early Sunday, 26 February, she was alerted about a plot to attack her vehicle along Grand Bassa County highway, indicating that she was advised not to travel after 6 pm on any highway in the country.
She narrated that while processing the information regarding the plot to attack her vehicle, and having consultations, she learned via social media, through a post from a Facebook user with the handle “Mac Jabateh”, concerning a security threat on her life.
In the Facebook post referenced by Senator Karnga-Lawrence, “Mac Jabateh” linked the Major of the City of Monrovia, Jefferson Tamba Koijee, to an alleged threat on the life of the Bassa County senator.
“Not taking anything lightly, especially with the most recent situation with the former Chief Justice, we immediately informed the Minister of Justice, and he promised to give the allegations “due attention”, Senator Karnga-Lawrence, at the weekend, wrote on her official Facebook handle.
Following her complaint to Justice Minister Cllr. Frank Musah Dean, Senator Karnga-Lawrence added that she received a telephone call from Deputy Police Inspector General for Operations, Melvin Sackor, followed by another telephone call from Police Inspector General Patrick Sudue.
“A few minutes ago, the Police IG personally deployed an armed Police Officer at my residence in the interim,” she disclosed.
She thanked Justice Minister Dean, for what she termed as his prompt and immediate “due attention,” and then informed all of those she referred to as being those concerned that she’s now being protected by state security.
“We look forward to ensuring that the attacks on the former Chief Justice that led to the death of her daughter is investigated and actions taken by the government,” said Senator Karnga-Lawrence, who vowed not to relent in seeking justice for all.
Well, Nyonblee, just make sure the guards they have sent you are not CDC spies and agent collaborators.
