Liberia – People believed to be pro-government thugs, last evening, mobbed Mr. Lewis Brown, the head of Team Alexander Cummings Campaign.
The former information minister had gone on Voice of Liberia, a local radio situated on the Capital By-Pass, Monrovia to propagate his planned December 17 ‘We are tired’ rally.
One eyewitness told Smart News: “The group of young people came and attempted to force their way into the radio station to attack the Liberian politician.
“They chanted slogans and issued threats to bloody and kill Lewis Brown.”
Other eyewitnesses say the station manager of Voice of Liberia, Sekou Sheriff had to call for police intervention to save the former Liberian ambassador to the United Nations from harm’s way.
The thugs tried to capture Brown, another witness said, adding that at that point, people sympathetic to Mr. Browne started to gather, before the police took him away.
The alleged pro-government supporters were said to be angered by Mr. Brown’s repeated call for Liberians to massively turn out for the December 17 rally which is being organized under the auspices of the opposition collaborating political parties led by Mr. Alexander B. Cummings.
