LIBERIA – Ahead of the 2022 edition of the National County Sports Meet, Grand Gedeh County Senator Zoe Emmanuel Pennue, has made a cash donation of L$100,000 (over US$600) to each of the five counties in Southeastern Liberia.
The donation by the Grand Gedeh County Senator is part of his personal effort to promote sports and to subsequently complement the government’s efforts drive to sports in the nation.
Making the presentation in Monrovia on Monday at his Capitol Hill office, Senator Pennue indicated that the gesture is intended to solidify the long-existing Southeastern solidarity.
He noted that sport is a major unifying factor and needs to be given the requisite support.
Senator Pennue affirmed that all of the southeastern counties are inter-connected and related, adding that, “River Gee is an offspring of Grand Gedeh County and so the others are from one another.”
He called on the Superintendents of the five counties, who were in attendance, some by proxies, to encourage their citizens to maintain the usual cordial relationship and peace within the Southeastern region and Liberia at large.
Receiving the donations, Grand Gedeh County Superintendent Kai Garlo Farley praised Pennue for the gesture and averred that the gesture from the lawmaker is something that is not new due to his regular philanthropic traits.
According to Superintendent Farley, Senator Pennue is one person who has always contributed to sports and other developments in the Southeast.
He called on other lawmakers and well-meaning sons and daughters from the Southeast to emulate a good example of Senator Pennue.
It can be recalled that during the National County Sports Meet in 2016, Sen. Pennue also donated L$50,000 to each of the five Southeastern counties.
The five Southeastern counties are Grand Kru, Sinoe, Maryland, River Gee and Grand Gedeh, (LINA).
