An opinion by Sage Moncio
The world will be a better place for all its people when it discovers more leaders or heads of states who lead from their hearts and not from their heads. When leaders lead from their heads they quickly become consumed and contaminated by the spoils and trappings of power and authority. They soon become obsessed with power and metaphors into menacing monsters on their people. Leaders who rule from the head thrive on the ‘standard of living’ mentality by which they become corruptible and end up undesirable in the eyes of their people.
Their intractable penchant and craving for material wealth absurdly steer them down the appalling and inconceivable path of material acquisitions (condos, private jets, exotic cars, grandiosity et al) which sadly submerges them into the pool of theft, graft, expropriation, and abuse of power to the detriment of their people and countries. And with this disgusting and eejit mindset, they end up plummeting their countries into dreadful civil conflicts. There are tons of case studies in Africa, Asia, and South America to back this analogy.
Whereas leaders who lead from the heart come to power to ink a legacy. They use power and authority to honor humanity. They serve their countries with love, sensitivity, integrity, dignity, and nobility. They lead with the ‘standard of life’ mentality where morality sits at the core of their leadership. Their hearts are adorned and pure. They don’t steal from their countries and neither do they defraud their people of the benefit of better living conditions.
They never dreamed of amassing millions siphoned from their countries thereby subjecting the masses of their people to extreme poverty and misery. They are daring patriots who put country above self. They are peacemakers, unifiers, and visionary nation-builders who work diligently to accentuate their countries and people to noble heights. They are responsible, accountable, contended, religious, and willing to listen and learn.
May we as people of the world seek leaders who lead from the heart, not the head. For more than ever before, the world desperately needs leaders with good hearts, not selfless, insensitive, intransigent, greedy, self-aggrandizing, and fascist heads of state.
