MONROVIA – The Green Revolution of Liberia has issued a stern warning to former Associate Justice Kabineh Ja’neh, accusing him of supporting activities that could destabilize the region and potentially draw Liberia and Guinea into military conflict. The group asserts that Ja’neh’s actions endanger Liberians residing in Guinea and threaten the peace of the Mano River Union.
In a press statement signed by its National Chairman, Revolutionary Gladiator Manja Varney Gbassey Kromah, the Green Revolution expressed alarm over allegations made by Ja’neh against the Liberian government. Ja’neh claims the government abducted Khali Cherif, a former LURD associate and alleged confidant of Guinea’s ousted President Alpha Conde, before handing him over to Guinea’s military junta, where Cherif was reportedly executed. The Green Revolution firmly denies this narrative.
The organization argued that Ja’neh’s claims have exacerbated tensions between Liberia and Guinea, leading to significant military deployments along their shared border. Guinea’s military junta has accused Liberia of sheltering individuals seeking to destabilize Guinea, further straining bilateral relations.
Contrary to Ja’neh’s assertions, the Green Revolution maintains that Cherif remains in the custody of Liberian security forces. It alleges that Cherif was involved in recruiting former LURD combatants for a covert operation aimed at overthrowing Guinea’s junta. During his interrogation, authorities reportedly discovered multiple conflicting identity cards, raising questions about his true nationality and motives.
The Green Revolution denounced Ja’neh’s actions as “barbaric, unconventional, and undemocratic,” stating that his behavior contradicts Liberia’s core values. The group also accused Ja’neh of leveraging his past ties with Alpha Conde to pursue personal ambitions that could drag Liberia into regional instability.
The organization urged Liberians to resist attempts to manipulate the country into conflict and destabilization. It called on law enforcement to handle Cherif’s case with impartiality, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation free from undue influence by Ja’neh or any other actors.
